Does a Miata make a good first car? I don’t know, you’ll have to ask the 18 year old who is buying mine on Saturday.

ANY car is a good first car because you’re just happy to have a car!

I’d
say
it’s
a
great
first
car,
with
the
caveat
that
I
wouldn’t
want
my
kid
doing
much
highway
driving
in
it.

It’s a good car, I survived 4.5 years in college, 3 years of commuting to work after graduation, and doing autocross for 7 years straight in my 2002 Miata.

Any car is a good first car. However, some cars are better at first car-ing than others.

No. Near 100% fatality rate above 45mph does not bode well.

So should I call off the sale?

Nah dude, it’s not your responsibility what happens to the car after it leaves you. Just saying, if I was that kids’ dad, I’d be voicing strong objections. Maybe he’ll be the safest driver ever and only take it to church on Sundays

I bet it being nimble will save his ass a couple times, but I would certainly want something that will a bsorb a hit better for my kids. half because they are in experienced and half because other people facetwitstagra m while driving

Here's to hoping. The dad was there today along with the son to look at the car, so at least the kid isn't buying it without them knowing.
